As a result of the capacity restrictions at Highbury, Arsenal previously played its home European matches at Wembley Stadium, where the club set its record home attendance of 73,707 during a UEFA Champions League match against RC Lens on November 25, 1998.

The most people ever to watch an Arsenal game was 73,295 at Highbury on March 9, 1935, when the team drew 0-0 with Sunderland. At Emirates Stadium, it was 60,161 on November 3, 2007, when the team drew 2-2 with Manchester United.
